"To whom should I complain?"
Written by William Shakespeare over 400 years ago, Measure for Measure has both delighted and troubled audiences over the centuries. Known as one of his "problem plays," as it does not fit neatly into either the Comedy or Tragedy box, it remains remarkably relevant to us today as it was in the early 1600's.
In Vienna, the Duke, fearing he has let his city slip in to a moral free-fall, hands over power to his deputy Angelo, who quickly and severely enforces old laws. When Isabella must plead for her brother's life, she is caught in a world of hypocrisy and deception, with seemingly little hope for justice.
Set in a modern, corporate world, Marian's production will engage the audience in viewing the narrative from a female perspective, drawing connections to today's "time's up" and "me too" movements.
